IR Extender Infrared Repeater Remote Control 30 to 60kHz Dual Band IR Over HDMI Extender for Source Device Remote Control Up to 25m with CEC Channel IR Receiver and IR Transmitter Plastic Housing
IR Extender Infrared Repeater for Remote Control over HDMI up to 25m with CEC Channel
This IR extender solves a common problem for home entertainment setups: controlling a source device that is tucked away in a cabinet or another room. By using the CEC channel of an HDMI cable, it carries infrared remote control signals from your remote to the hidden device. The system includes an IR receiver and an IR transmitter, and it operates without any external power. With a maximum extend distance of 25 metres (depending on your HDMI cable), this device offers a practical way to keep your setup tidy without losing remote control functionality.
Features and Construction
The extender is built around straightforward HDMI connectivity and manual control. All key specifications are clearly defined to help you match the device to your needs.
Material and Build
The housing is made of plastic, keeping the unit lightweight at just 35g. The two adaptors are compact and easy to position near your source device and display. No additional power supply is required, as the extender draws power from the HDMI connection, with a maximum current draw of 15mA.
Size and Practical Fit
Weighing only 35g, each adaptor is small enough to fit behind a TV or media console without adding clutter. The device uses standard HDMI female ports, so it works with any standard HDMI cable. The extender supports IR frequencies from 30kHz to 60kHz, covering most common remote controls.
Uses and Placement
This IR extender is suited for any setup where the source device is not in the same line of sight as the remote control. It is particularly useful for installations behind furniture or in separate rooms.
Home Cinema and Media Centres
Place your Blu-ray player, games console, or streaming box out of sight in a cabinet, and use this extender to relay the IR signal. The CEC channel on the HDMI cable carries the signal, so you do not need a separate IR eye or cable. This keeps your living area clean and uncluttered.
Retail and Commercial Displays
In digital signage or retail setups where the media player is mounted behind a screen or in a locked enclosure, this extender allows you to control the player remotely. The manual switch lets you choose between CEC and IR extend modes for flexibility.
Benefits and Buying Value
The main advantage of this product is its simplicity: it uses existing HDMI cabling and does not require batteries or mains power. It is a straightforward solution for a common problem.
Reuse and Low Maintenance
Because the extender is power-free and has no moving parts, it requires no maintenance once installed. It works with any standard HDMI cable you already have, so there is no need to buy special cables. The device is reusable across different setups.
Why Choose This Product
If you need to control a hidden device and prefer a no-power, HDMI-based solution, this IR extender offers a reliable method. It supports a wide IR frequency range and a long extension distance, making it a versatile tool for home and professional use.
